UWSEMO Opportunities

An internship at United Way offers students the opportunity to work closely with professional staff and various community organizations to promote health and human services programs in achieving our mission. Marketing & Events Coordinator
The Marketing & Events Coordinator is a part-time (25 hours per week) position that coordinates United Way of Southeast Missouri’s special events and serves as the organization’s primary on-site marketing representative. Working under the direction of the Executive Director and in collaboration with the Marketing & Communications Specialist, this position coordinates event logistics, executes event marketing plans, captures photography and videography, and strengthens relationships with donors, volunteers, workplace partners, and the community.

AmeriCorps Opportunities
United Way of Southeast Missouri’s AmeriCorps program, United for Childcare, increases access to affordable, quality childcare in Southeast Missouri. Childcare is a critical need in our region, with many families unable to work due to a lack of providers. This program places AmeriCorps members in roles that help families, expand provider capacity, and support the childcare workforce. Please note:
- AmeriCorps is a government program administered through UWSEMO.
- These are part-time positions that end July 31, 2026 (but may be extended to allow time for completion of hours).
- Our grant includes paying a living allowance to AmeriCorps members of $14,400 for 3/4-time members and an educational award from the National Service Trust in the amount of $5,176.50, assuming the AmeriCorps member fulfills all requirements.
- Applicants must apply to serve as an AmeriCorps member before applying for an open service role.

As a Childcare Development Specialist, you will work directly with individuals who want to become licensed in-home childcare providers.
Childcare Planning Specialist
As a Childcare Planning Specialist, you’ll work directly with parents and caregivers to develop personalized childcare plans, access subsidies, and connect to resources like transportation, housing, and employment.
Community Resource Navigator
As a Community Resource Navigator, you’ll be the welcoming face of the program in your community, supporting outreach, organizing events, and building trust between families, providers, and local services.
