United Way Funding for 2026-2028

hank you for your interest in partnering with United Way of Southeast Missouri as we celebrate 72 years of giving. UWSEMO is part of a global network committed to creating youth opportunity, healthy communities, financial stability, and community resilience that encompasses safety net programs. Each United Way serves its own region and has the independence to manage its own grant cycle. Community volunteers on our board of directors and Community Investment Committee (CIC) determine which programs to invest in and to what extent to create the greatest local impact.

As we prepare to serve Southeast Missouri for another seventy years, we will continue to uplift the above focus areas while deepening our commitment to removing barriers to financial stability. We seek partners who equip people with the tools and opportunities that lead to long-term financial security and share our commitment to helping families move from simply surviving to truly thriving.

Our 2026-2028 grant application is currently closed for review. 

The programs that our volunteers choose to fund and invite to join our network are required to return annual outcomes and promote their partnership with UWSEMO. We encourage you to read the Frequently Asked Questions and make note of these key dates.

  • February 2-27: Grant is open, closing at 5 PM CST on Friday, February 27.

  • March 16-20: UWSEMO notifies all applicants, advancing and not.

  • March 26: Advancing applicants present to our board, CIC, interested donors & community members beginning at 4 PM at our office at 16 N. Spanish Street in Cape Girardeau.
  • May 4-8: Selected programs are invited to join the United Way network; information is shared with regional media and public.

We truly wish we could fund the many worthwhile programs seeking to become part of the United Way network. Unfortunately, requests usually double the donor funds we have been entrusted to allocate. Thank you for all you do to help our community.
