Ride United: Transportation Access helps individuals get to and from job interviews when transportation is a barrier to employment. The program focuses on helping people show up on time, prepared, and ready to succeed at a critical step in the hiring process. Once approved, rides are coordinated through Lyft, and participants receive ride details by text message with the option to manage their trip by text or through the Lyft app. If employment is gained, participants can transition into United We Work for ongoing transportation support to and from work. Ride United is a national United Way initiative, locally implemented by United Way of Southeast Missouri, to help connect people to jobs and long-term economic stability.

How the Program Works

How the Program Works

1. Fill out the request form
   Complete a short form to request transportation for a job interview.
2. We review your application
   Our team reviews your request and confirms eligibility.
3. Receive your ride details
   Once approved, you’ll receive a text message from Lyft with your ride information.
4. Manage your ride
   You can manage your ride through text message or directly in the Lyft app.
5. Get to your interview and back home
   Lyft will pick you up, take you to your interview, and return you home.
6. Get hired? Let us know
   If you are offered the job, contact us and we will help enroll you in United We Work for ongoing transportation to and from work.
